About the Role

Mount Chamber Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, to support the nursing team, either on a full time or a part-time basis (as part of a job share).

Working under the direct supervision of the practice nurse lead, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
 
The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:
  • wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
  • new patient health checks.
  • re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines.
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
  • preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations.
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

About the Candidate
If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant looking for a fresh and exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:
 
Essential - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC;
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;
  • Experience of working within a GP practice;
  • Strong clinical skills;
  • Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable:
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture.
About Us
We are a busy town centre practice based over two locations with 13,500 patients. We have our own in-house dispensary and we are also a training practice who has several registrars working alongside our partners and salaried GPs. Our nursing team consists of 3 x nurse practitioners, 2 practice nurses, 1 trainee nurse associate and 2 other HCAs. We are a friendly and supportive practice who actively support career progression.
