About the Role

Woolpit Health Centre is looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our busy and dedicated practice team to work on a part-time basis for 30 hours per week. You will be working a variable shift pattern between 8am - 6.30pm. 

Available Working Patterns: Post 1 and 2

  • Monday: 13:00–18:30
  • Tuesday: 08:00–13:00
  • Wednesday: 08:00–13:00
  • Thursday: 13:00–18:30
  • Friday: 08:00–18:00 (30 or 60-minute break) 
  • Monday: 08:00–13:00

 Flexibility is essential for this role as the successful candidate will be required to adjust their working hours in line with service demands, including covering shifts at short notice when necessary.

This is a key role within the practice, offering an excellent opportunity to make a positive difference to patients while supporting the smooth and efficient running of our day-to-day services.

Duties will include: 

  • Ensuring that an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
  • Dealing with all general enquiries and explain surgery procedures
  • Answering the telephone and call navigating to appropriate clinicians or healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
  • Booking, amending and cancelling patient’s appointments, ensuring optimum efficiently of the appointment system
  • Monitoring and processing online requests via Anima alongside the duty GPs
  • Receiving and recording requests for home visits, ensuring clinicians have the necessary paperwork
  • Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security
  • Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Taking messages accurately and pass on information

About the Candidate

To be considered for this position, you will require the following;
 
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade 4-9/A-C or equivalent
  • Experience working with the general public
  • Previous healthcare or NHS administration experience, as well as those with strong transferable skills
  • Excellent communication abilities and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
  • Clear and polite telephone manner
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience within a busy customer-facing environment will also be valued
