About the Role

Stevenage South PCN are looking for an experienced and motivated health professional to support our upcoming COVID vaccination programme, primarily delivering vaccinations to care home residents and housebound patients across Stevenage.

This short-term role will focus primarily on COVID vaccinations, with the potential to support additional vaccination programmes such as RSV, Shingles and Pneumococcal where required. This role is offered with some flexibility - weekday availability is required with ideally Saturdays and Sundays.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced vaccinator to make a direct impact in protecting vulnerable patients within the community as part of a supportive Primary Care Network team.

As a community vaccinator you will play a key role in delivering safe and effective vaccination clinics across care homes and housebound patient settings. Working as part of the PCN vaccination team, you will support the delivery of the seasonal COVID programme and ensure vaccinations are delivered in line with national guidance, PGDs and local protocols.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work as a registered healthcare professional to a PGD and relevant guidance.
  • Deliver COVID vaccinations to care home residents and housebound patients.
  • Support delivery of other vaccination programmes where required (e.g. RSV, Shingles, Pneumococcal).
  • Undertake pre-vaccination clinical assessments to ensure patient suitability.
  • Provide clear information and reassurance to patients and carers about vaccinations.
  • Monitor patients for any immediate adverse reactions following vaccination.
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical coding and documentation using SystmOne
  • Work collaboratively with the wider PCN vaccination team and care home staff.
  • Follow infection control, cold chain and vaccine handling protocols.
  • Escalate any concerns or clinical queries appropriately.

About the Candidate

To be considered for this position, you will have the following:
  • Registered Healthcare Professional (for example NMC registered).
  • Previous vaccination experience, ideally including COVID vaccination programmes.
  • Experience working within primary care, community settings, or vaccination hubs.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting a wider clinical team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to work across care homes and community settings.
  • Availability for weekend clinics (Saturday and Sunday) would be highly beneficial.
